Today I’m dressed for summer because it’s time to talk about Fun in the Bay: Summer Edition. Here are a few great events that you should check out:

1. Danville Area Community Harvest. The harvest takes place on May 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet at the Danville Park and Ride right next to the 680 freeway. We will be harvesting backyard fruits for donations to local soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and the food bank.

Harvests typically take about three hours, and you’ll travel no more than 25 miles from the starting location. We will have all of the necessary equipment, including buckets, picking poles, ladders, clippers, and crates with us.

Make sure that you wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. You may also want to consider bringing water, a snack, a hat or sunglasses, gardening gloves, and a brown bag to take some fruit home for yourself.

You can learn more about The Urban Farmers at www.theurbanfarmers.org.

We hope you have a great summer and enjoy these events!

2. How Weird Street Faire. The theme this year is The Disco Ball Inferno! The festival season starts on May 6 at 2:22 p.m. (how weird!) in downtown San Francisco at Howard and 2nd street. Join thousands of people in colorful costumes from around the world who have come together to celebrate peace, creativity, and Weirdness. There will be dancing in the streets and 10 stages of great music, along with fantastic foods, unique vendors, and visionary art. This whole Faire is dedicated to inspiring creativity. You can learn more at HowWeird.org. 3. The San Francisco Beer and Music Festival. Starting at 6 p.m. on June 2 in Union Square, you’ll be able to enjoy the sunset and party into the night. You can try unlimited samples of over 10 craft beers, wine, and spirits. There will also be live bands and a deejay to get the crowd on their feet. There will also be plenty of food. You can learn more at SanFrancisco-BeerFestival.com. 4. Music in the Park—The Big Jangle. Go to Danville Oak Hill Park on June 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be music by The Big Jangle and a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute band. Bring some chairs, blankets, and coolers and enjoy a harmonious evening. I hope you have time to check out these awesome events. As always, if you have any real estate questions, just give us a call or send us an email. We would be happy to help you!

What’s happening in the Bay this summer? There are a lot of great events going on that you won’t want to miss!

The first is the Taiwanese American Cultural Festival in San Francisco on May 13th. It’s a celebration of Taiwanese culture and heritage as well as the new traditions of Taiwanese-Americans. The two-day event features performances of folkloric and contemporary dance and music as well as exhibits showing the latest in Taiwanese arts, culture, and technology.

Next up is the San Francisco Porchfest on May 20th which is absolutely free! SF Porchfest is an afternoon of fun, music, and community with 60 bands on many porches, front stoops, and other outdoor spaces in the Mission and lower Noe Valley. Porchfest reflects the creativity and diversity of the city everyone loves, with musical acts across many genres, ages, and backgrounds. You can follow their facebook page for more info.

Right after that, we have the Bay to Breakers on May 21st. Dating back over a hundred years ago, Bay to Breakers in San Francisco is the oldest consecutively run annual footrace in the world. The 12k route goes west through the city finishing at the Great Highway with breakers crashing onto the adjacent Ocean Beach. More than just a race, Bay to Breakers is a celebration of the city’s affection for eclectic traditions, and many of the participants come decked out in festive costumes or almost nothing at all.

Last but not least, we have the Fourth of July Waterfront Festival on July 4th. Dazzling fireworks, local bands, food, arts and crafts ignite this annual waterfront party. Fireworks begin around 9:30 p.m. Dress warmly. For more information, check out PIER 39, call 415-705-5500, or visit www.pier39.com.

A lot of people have been asking me lately, "Should I wait to make an offer on a new listing that just came onto the market?" The short answer is no!
If this is the home that you want, then go buy it! In some markets, you have to shoot first before anyone else finds the property. What if someone else jumps in and makes an offer higher than what you can offer? If you get in there right away and you get in first, then you get the property. Your best offer is your first offer.

When you do make an offer on the home, make sure you put a fair offer in. Don't lowball the seller, but don't go way over the listing price, either. Before you even look at homes, make sure that your financing is in place. Once you've made an offer, don't go buy a boat or car. Your financing will be ruined, and you'll lose the home in the middle of the transaction.

If you have any questions, give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you!

Today, we're coming to you with the second video in our series Summer Fun in the Bay.

Here are a few ideas that the whole family can enjoy:
  1. Go to the Mission District and check out La Cumbre Taqueria. It is the home of the infamous Mexican wrap. If you're looking for something fun and adventurous, this is the place to go.
  2. Ride a vintage streetcar. This great activity is not as expensive as you may think; it only costs about two dollars a person! For seniors and children, it only costs 75 cents to ride the streetcar.
  3. Finally, expand your mind at the Exploratorium. This is an amazing opportunity for the young and old to play with all kinds of fun and different things!

Now, here are some ideas for adults:
  1. If you like jazz, you have got to go to the SF Jazz Center. This is a unique, stand-alone structure built specifically for jazz. The top jazz musicians clamor to play there because the acoustics were designed specifically for their music.
  2. Check out the Buena Vista Irish coffee house. This is the original bar that brought Irish coffees to America!
  3. If you want to dance, head over to Public Works. This great place opened its doors in 2010, and it's the epicenter of the club scene.

Finally, here are some ideas for date night:
  1. Head over to Giant's Stadium for a game. It's a great place right on the water that offers every kind of food you can imagine, so go on and cheer for our guys!
  2. If you like ice cream, go to Bi-RiteCreamery. People come from all over to eat this ice cream, and the line usually goes around the corner!
  3. If you want some great bread, go to TartineBakery on 18th street. This fantastic bakery is only a block away from Bi-Rite Creamery, so make a night of it!
