The first is the Taiwanese American Cultural Festival in San Francisco on May 13th. It’s a celebration of Taiwanese culture and heritage as well as the new traditions of Taiwanese-Americans. The two-day event features performances of folkloric and contemporary dance and music as well as exhibits showing the latest in Taiwanese arts, culture, and technology.

Right after that, we have the Bay to Breakers on May 21st. Dating back over a hundred years ago, Bay to Breakers in San Francisco is the oldest consecutively run annual footrace in the world. The 12k route goes west through the city finishing at the Great Highway with breakers crashing onto the adjacent Ocean Beach. More than just a race, Bay to Breakers is a celebration of the city’s affection for eclectic traditions, and many of the participants come decked out in festive costumes or almost nothing at all.

Last but not least, we have the Fourth of July Waterfront Festival on July 4th. Dazzling fireworks, local bands, food, arts and crafts ignite this annual waterfront party. Fireworks begin around 9:30 p.m. Dress warmly. For more information, check out PIER 39, call 415-705-5500, or visit www.pier39.com.
